Wayne Rooney achieved the Professional Footballers association Player of the Year. The names of the other nominees along with Rooney were Cesc Fabregas, Carlos Tevez and Didier Drogba. But Rooney won the award and thus Manchester United won this award for four times in successive years.

Rooney is in incredible form in this season. He scored 34 goals for United and also scored eight goals for England. This 24 year old player can be the key player in this upcoming World Cup , not that it was a surprise - online betting had him as the clear favorite. Rooney was very happy after winning the Player of the Year Award. He said that he was very proud for winning this award. He also said that it was great since this award was voted by the players and thus players selected the deserving player.  Rooney won the young player of the year in the year 2005 and 2006.

Rooney has just come back from the injury of his ankle. But he could not play in the weekend where his team won the match against Tottenham by 3 – 1. Rooney is the top scorer of The Barclays Premier League with his 26 strikes. He hopes that he will return to the final of the United’s campaign to play against Stoke which is held in the next month. Rooney also said he is not worried about his injury and he is very much sure that he will be fine and fit in the world cup.

Rooney was the first man from English who won the Steven Gerrard award in 2006. He said that behind his career Sir Alex has an important role who has really played an important role when Rooney joined the United. For the award of PFA Young Player of the year Rooney was nominated but the award went to the James Milner.

Paula Ferreira thinks that winning of Premiere league title in this season is very important. He also told that winning the FA cup would be equally important as it would be winning the premier league. On May 15 the Blues will face Portsmouth at Wembley. These two teams are at the top positions in the English Premiere League.
Ferreira said that if they won the premiere League then it would be a great change for them as they were constantly losing the league for three years. Thus they are not happy and are trying their best to win the league. He also added that it would be very disappointing if Chelsea could not win the league to get the cup.
It is seen that Manchester United were playing very good than Chelsea in last three years but this year Chelsea wants to win the league first and then they want to win the cup since both are very important for them to win this year. This season they have three games in their hand and they want to win those three games. He also said that everything could not be achieved but it was very disappointing to them when they lost Champions League this year.
Since Jose Bosingwa and Branislav Ivannovic are both injured so Ferreira is playing regularly and has secured a position within 12 in this season.
The game that Chelsea was defeated by the Inter Milan in the Champions league motivated Chelsea to win games in this season. This motivation will help them to try hard to win the Premiere League and thus they can play FA cup final as winner. The Chelsea do not want to lose Premiere League and try to win both League and Cup also.

Nadal defeated Verdasco and won the Monte Carlo Masters. He easily defeated Verdasco and this win was Nadal’s sixth consecutive win.
Verdasco was the sixth seed and he performed very well in semi final. He beat Novak Djokovic who is world number two in semi final. But unfortunately Verdasco could not secure his position in final against Nadal. Verdasco had never defeated Nadal in the previous meetings for nine times. He was the underdog where as Nadal was the favourite in the final match.
Nadal was in fantastic form and he did not give any chance to Verdasco to stand and win the first game. After that Nadal achieved the six points and managed to win the first set by 6 – 0 while Verdasco who is just 26 years old could not win a game in first set.
But Nadal continued to remain in his fantastic form and got the second game with the help of his awesome backhand. But Verdasco also gave a return shot into the corner but Nadal managed to return that back and used a shot which was a cross court. Verdasco could not stop Nadal from taking points. Thus Nadal got the next four game points and thus won the set also. From fifth game Verdasco could not manage and he took a three minute break for a quick check up of his back and neck.
Due to this break Nadal who achieved two set points got some advantage and played very good and took the set point in just half an hour. But at the beginning of the second set Verdasco played good where he played well to save three break points and won the first game point in the final.
Thus Nadal won the match by 6 – 0, 6 – 1 against Verdasco in one hour and twenty five minutes.

Colin Montgomerie the captain of Ryder Cup did not attach any importance about the form of the leading players of Europe. Only Lee West wood and Ian Poulter are in the field in this competition while other players are not in the field against American. Again there is another big competition October’s Celtic manor after six months.

Ian Poulter is the winner of WGC- Accenture Match Play. Westwood who is the number one European player stood second in the Masters which happened at last week. According to the Corey Pavin who is the captain of America, these two are the key players of Montgomerie’s and the main reason behind the success of Europe in Wales.

But at Augusta, Phil Mickelson performed fantastic and claimed third jacket from Westwood. On the other hand after five months out of play tiger woods played good by securing a position at fourth after ending in a tie. Thus the America is gaining the momentum and playing good with only eight players of European left in the fray.

At the beginning of this year European are in the leading position up to match play where Poulter played fantastic but Sergio Garcia did not play well and ended at a very low position at Masters. Other players like Luke Donald, Soren Hansen, Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, Paul Casey, Padraig Harrington, Graeme McDowell and Martin Kaymer could not secure their positions in the competition.

According to the Montegomerie who is a five time Ryder Cup winner was expecting that his team will perform well in the coming competition.

He also admitted that there are only two players who have secured their position and played well at Augusta. These two players are Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood. On the other hand the rest of the players did not play well as they expected where as there are number of top players who were not playing at the weekend.

Chela bagged his first ATP Tour title in three years. Chela who is 30 years of age beat third seed and world number 25 Querry. Chela who lost the first set in the final won the match over Querry who is eight years junior and ranking 57 places higher from Chela.

The two players played against each other for the first time. Opening set was the tight one and Querry break the service of Chela in seventh game of first set and took the lead 4-3. But soon Chela took the advantage and levelled the score. Again Querry broke the tie at 5-5 and took a lead 1-0 against Chela.

The next set was a fighting set but soon Chela took the advantage of double fault made by Querrey at game point and took to 5-4 lead in the 10th game. Querry who is a winner of indoor tour took place in this year in Memphis could not stand against Chela who levelled the match by breaking the service and made the third set a crucial one.

Querrey again took the lead in the third set first while winning the first game but Chela again took the next advantage.

At 3-3 Chela started to win the games and gained three more game points and thus defeated Querrey in the final. Out of three game points that Chela lost in the third set one was due to his own double fault. But ultimately he won the third set by 6-3. Querrey was the third American in succession who lost US Men’s Clay Court Championship final after the defeat of James Blake in the year 2008 and another one was Wayne Odesnik 12 months ago.

Chela won the final by 5-7 6-4 6-3 in two hours and twenty five minutes at River Oaks Country Club. For Chela this match is the first final to win since he won the match in Acapulco in 2007.

Manchester United was defeated by the Bayern Munich. Rooney a top class striker of Manchester United is facing a big problem with his ankle injury. Van Basten who was the most feared striker in the world once was disgusted by the decision of Alex Ferguson, the manager of the Manchester United. After Van watched the match he was surprised by the decision for letting his best striker in pain for 55 minutes in the field.

Though Rooney told that he was fit, but he has not fully recovered from his ankle injury. Rooney should have been kept under rest for the treatment of his injury.

In the first few minutes Rooney was facing difficulties while playing on the ground against Bayern Munich. Van Basten has told that he was praying for Rooney to be replaced after watching him in difficulty. He was surprised when his highly rated manager of Manchester united did not take him off. He also told that if ankle is damaged and again if you get another injury on the recovered ankle then the pain remains forever. While watching the condition of Rooney he recollected that he was once in the position where Rooney in now.

Vas Basten the feared striker in the football has achieved a hat trick against England in the year 88 at the Euro Cup. But soon after that championship he had an ankle injury for which he had to go a series of surgeries but could not recover from injury and he was forced to stop playing early at the age of 29.

The two players of Argentina Horacio Zeballos and Juan Ignacio Chela will play against each other to reach final. They both will play against each other in the US Men’s Clay Court Championship. On the other hand either Sam Querrey or Wayne Odesnik will reach to final. So winner between the two players of Argentina will meet either Sam Querrey or Wayne Odesnik in final. The final of the US men’s clay court championship will be held on Sunday.

It will be for the second time that Horacio Zeballos will be in the final of the US Men’s Clay Court Championship if he manages to reach the final. In 2009 he managed to reach final in St. Petersburg. But he lost the final against Stakhosky. Horacio was ranking as world no. 54 at the beginning of the week. Zeballos is appearing for the first time in this US Men’s Clay Court Championship. He recorded in his opening round by winning the game over the opponent Taylor Dent. But in that match Tylor Dent retired due to injury and Zeballos won the match. From that match Zeballos is continuously performing better and beat Dudi Sela in round two. He won the match by by 6-3, 6-2 in the second round. Then in the quarter final he won the match against top player Fernando Gonzalez who is a former champion by 6-4, 6-4.

Veteran Juan Ignacio Chela is ranking World No. 82. He attempts to secure his no 10 ATP World Tour Final. This player ahs appeared for the last time in 2007. In that match he gained the Acapulco trophy against Carlos Moya who is the former world no.1. Veteran Juan Ignacio Chela is only 30 years old.
