Carlos Checa’s double at Phillip Island

The Spanish Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) won a spectacular double in the Phillip Island circuit to overcome the two runs that gave rise to World Superbikes.

Czech took control of the first race on lap 3 to overtake Laverty and land quickly put through to the rest of their rivals.

Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia) tried to keep pace with the Spanish but could not approach or have options at any time and at the end devoted to maintain second place going to four seconds behind the winner.

In the second race, the Spanish rider once again proved that it was the fastest and dominated the Australian circuit from start to finish, with Biaggi for new escorts to two seconds at the finish line.

The reigning world champion had a tough battle with a plethora Marco Melandri (Yamaha World Superbike Team), who finished third and thus gets his first Superbike podium.
