2010Chela wins the US Men’s Clay Court Championship final

Chela bagged his first ATP Tour title in three years. Chela who is 30 years of age beat third seed and world number 25 Querry. Chela who lost the first set in the final won the match over Querry who is eight years junior and ranking 57 places higher from Chela.
The two players played against each other for the first time. Opening set was the tight one and Querry break the service of Chela in seventh game of first set and took the lead 4-3. But soon Chela took the advantage and levelled the score. Again Querry broke the tie at 5-5 and took a lead 1-0 against Chela.
The next set was a fighting set but soon Chela took the advantage of double fault made by Querrey at game point and took to 5-4 lead in the 10th game. Querry who is a winner of indoor tour took place in this year in Memphis could not stand against Chela who levelled the match by breaking the service and made the third set a crucial one.
Querrey again took the lead in the third set first while winning the first game but Chela again took the next advantage.
At 3-3 Chela started to win the games and gained three more game points and thus defeated Querrey in the final. Out of three game points that Chela lost in the third set one was due to his own double fault. But ultimately he won the third set by 6-3. Querrey was the third American in succession who lost US Men’s Clay Court Championship final after the defeat of James Blake in the year 2008 and another one was Wayne Odesnik 12 months ago.
Chela won the final by 5-7 6-4 6-3 in two hours and twenty five minutes at River Oaks Country Club. For Chela this match is the first final to win since he won the match in Acapulco in 2007.
